Susan, Is this your first house? If the payment you're making on your Savage pushes you out of buying this house, you're trying to buy too much house for your income. Real estate agents and loan officers always try to get you to buy more than you can really afford because they get a commission. In your place I would think long and hard about the house you want to buy and consider if you can really afford it. It doesn't sound like you can. Look for something you can buy and still have enough money for the little emergencies that always pop up.
If you decide you have to have this house at all costs, then sell your Savage and hope you don't have any emergencies. Good luck.
